I think we could implement this in all sports, with the one downside that they'd be unwatchable.
So no change there then.

I think this actually makes the hero more heroic, not less. To create a hero is a multi generational endeavor, requiring a big contribution from many people, well actually all of society, teachers, farmers, blacksmiths etc...
