I assume this means that even if you were to splice in patches of M*A*S*H, it wouldn't be as good as M*A*S*H itself.

Mash however is fantastic, many levels of comic genius, a decent and serious 'message' behind it, great actors and good writing to back it up. One of the few series which cae out as a result of a movie and improved on it.

Still, not a patch on Blackadder, excepting the first season of BA which wasnt as good as the rest in my earnest opinion.

Also worth checking out as a low budget indie comedy is Red Dwarf. Well pre-7th season if I remember correctly.
Seconded on the Goon Show! I have the first 78 episodes of that on my iPod, Peter Sellers at his best in my humble opinion.

The second season is probably my favourite of Blackadder, if only because of Miranda Richardson's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth. Red Dwarf is also made of win.

I will admit now that I've never actually watched the show MASH, I was kind of turned off by the movie. But if it's as good as you guys are making it sound maybe I'll check it out.

I know you all like M.A.S.H but the funniest sitcom of all must be Peep Show or the Inbetweeners.

The show is only loosely based on the movie, and it has an all new cast. Alan Alda is a genius.

I've only seen about half the movie, and didn't like it much.
The show, however, I love. I agree about Alan Alda. He absolutely made the show. Each episode is pretty much ranked on how well the supporting cast meshed with him.
Really, the only other stand-alone brilliance on the show came from Harry Morgan, aka Colonel Potter.

I can't believe I read the whole thing. The whole thing.
However I am proud of the fact that I pirated the books and so was not responsible for one cent of mine finding it's way into the hands of Stephanie Meyer.
I can't believe how often that woman uses the word 'cringed'! Also 'growled', it's insane. The main characters were both really fucking annoying, and Stephenie Meyer also kept mentioning how the female characters were doing all the housework and apparently you need a Y chromosome to enjoy talking about motor vehicles.
That being said, I was strangely drawn to it and was compulsed to read all the books in quite a short period of time. I'm scared.

I definitely don't understand how any human being could be drawn to talking about cars.

Ew. I would not have a lot of patience for all that cringing. I do enough of that in my own life.

I remember reading On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony, who seemed determined to use the words "balk" and "bailiwick" at least once on each page. Only ever used them in the same sentence once, though!

Just have to find the right car.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

That kind of repetition can really bring a story down. You've got plenty of different words, guy... Try to use more of them.

Even in The Host (which was a wayyy better book with actually likeable and sorta complex characters) she kept on using it. It's not like there are no words which are similar in meaning. At least not every bit of dialoge was 'growled' in that book.

Link Fix'd. The movie is better than the books because the bad writing is only apparent in the plot an dialogue. Many good movies have both bad dialogue and plot. The wicker man, for example.

You mean the American version of the Wicker Man? I've heard the original English version is very very good.

EDIT: Is that a licence plate with a racial slur on it? I am shocked and appalled.

Are you. . .
saying that the movie was good?

It was some of the worst acting I ever saw.
