2001: Great
2010: Pretty good
2061: What in the hell is this garbage?

I watched the movie for 2001 thought it was pretty good. My friend thinks the novels are pretty much how you said, kind of deluted the story.
But speaking of Clarke, I started reading Childhood's End and have kind of been neglecting it

Let me know if it's good. I figure I'll finish out the series since I've started it, but 2061 is just reaaaally bad.

I couldn't stand 75% of the movie 2001. But that's mostly because I don't like Kubrick's style at all.
I've always kind of wanted to give the book(s) a try.

I loved the movie and the style. Normally, I don't like movies that leave you saying "What?" but I really loved it.

Well i finished Childhood's End, It was really good actually. Some parts were confusing for me, but that's expected considering i've only read 5 books in my entire life (excluding goosebumps series)

That's an impressively low record for a literate person. I haven't done much book reading since I started high school aside from the obvious required textbooks, but before that I couldn't help myself when it came to reading.

Well that's why I excluded the goosebumps series, with that it would've been 30-ish.

When I saw that you had read only five books (excluding the Goosebumps series), it felt like a knife in the heart. I used to read at least five books a week, but then I found this Forum and the number has dropped to something like one or two. Still, I own something close to a quarter-tonne of books that I reread throughout the year.

I have a whole bookshelf full of novels in my house, but after reading everyone of them, I just stopped reading fiction. I'm too lazy to go to the local library, and even then I find the large choice a little daunting. I still read a fair amount of non-fiction like National Geographic and Cosmos (an Australian science magazine, not the Cosmopolitan). I did stumble across another bookshelf of interesting old books somewhere in my university recently though, so I might just hang out there and do some reading in my spare time.

I'm currently completely dry on things to read. I think I've read all of the fiction I own in the last 6 months. And I worry about going to the library because I think I owe them money.

Have you read A Canticle for Leibowitz? I just recently picked it up, despite having intended to for the past decade or so. It's really quite good, and it holds up quite well even though it's nearly half of a century old.

Man, you guys are a bunch of nerds. Don't you have anything more important to do, like sex or Star Trek?

We're so nerdy that even Trekkies look at us in disdain, which rules out any chance at sex.

Anyone see that star trek porno? Talk about two birds with one stone!

Someone make a star trek themed pun about the two birds with one stone thing please.
