Merry Christmas
Post Christmasy stuff!
Simon's Cat in 'Santa Claws'
Santa, can you imagine doing something more beautiful on Christmas day than giving gifts to children all day long?

Re: Merry Christmas
In the end? Nothing really important, but difficult to translate. It says: "Die Stimmung kippt.", so literally "The atmosphere/mood/spirit tilts/topples." (The general mood in the room changes from good to bad suddenly).carbonstealer wrote:In the second one.... what does the reindeer say? I no sprekken your language

Re: Merry Christmas
Is it a nerd joke?
Or is just xkcd - a comic that used to be about nerds?

Re: Merry Christmas
xkcd makes me feel like I've become disconnected from the nerd community.

Trees and heaps are computer data structures.
I thought it was actually a pretty clever comic.
But I think it's fair to say that most of us here are already as aware of XKCD as we care to be, Mister Train.

Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Re: Merry Christmas
Amerika, I don't really feel that is a fair assessment. Would you care to expand on your implication that XKCD no longer appeals to nerds? I know it's appealing to want to say something along the lines of, "Oh, such and such artist is only mainstream now because they've sold out." However, I think Randall Munroe is an example of are artist who has managed to gain a mainstream audience without abandoning his original audience.
And Oldrac, are you saying that I should assume that everyone who reads SMBC forums is aware of and regularly reads XKCD? That seems like a ridiculous assumption to me.

Re: Merry Christmas
Today I took my new magnet toy (see above) to a family event.
Good:
- My brother in law helped me make it into a cube again.
- Everybody was fascinated.
- A couple of people played with it.
Bad:
- Two of the spherical mini-magnets are missing now.
Next Christmasy video: The digital story of nativity.

Re: Merry Christmas
Don't worry. I have the solution. Instead of one 6x6x6 neocube, you now own two 4x4x4 neocubes, two 3x3x3 neocubes, and four 2x2x2 neocubes.Astrogirl wrote:- Two of the spherical mini-magnets are missing now.
6^3 - 2 = 214 = 2(4^3) + 2(3^3) + 4(2^3)
Oooh, or perhaps you own one 5x5x5 neocube, three 3x3x3 neocubes, and one 2x2x2 necube.
