So, maybe this is just me. Or maybe I'm the first to stand up and say it. Or maybe there's a whole slew of topics dedicated to it already, but I can't be bothered to find 'em.

I keep having to log in.

Most of the time when I log in to begin with, I get "half" logged in, which is to say GreenCrayon appears as a logged in member at the bottom of the screen, but I can't go to my messages, and I have no "log out" option.

Also, an alarmingly increasing number of times I'll go to post something, only to find myself logged out, and when I log back in (which takes a few attempts) nothing remains of what I've written. I'll generally not bother typing it again. I think it's unlikely I'm taking too long writing a response, given that my messages take around 2 minutes to write even for the long ones (I casually type at 80WPM).

I await helpful replies telling me what I'm doing wrong with my cookies (which certainly doesn't include blocking them). It's nothing that happened before my long absence; perhaps the forum simply doesn't like me any more?

I haven't had that problem. I would help out, but we Americans are required by law to not help other people. In fact we're encouraged to reverse help* as much as possible. So I'll have to say to you... ain't my problem limey.

*"reverse help" is a common expression in the US**

if you go to www.smbc-comics.com/smbcforum for some reason the log-in process messes up

go to http://smbc-comics.com/smbcforum and it'll work

Yeah, I had a similar problem a while back, and again this week.
I just clean out my cookies and files and sign in again, and I have no problem.

yes, i've had that that problem a number of times. Mostly when I use IE, though it happened once on FF. I just change between putting and not putting the www in front of the URL and it usually fixes it.

Sadly, that didn't clear things up. I logged in okay, but as soon as I hit "reply", I was logged out again.

Just tried that (again). I took out all the temporary files and cookies; this time I've done it at the DOS level, and told IE to relocate the folders it uses for these purposes. Perhaps I shall prevail, or perhaps once more all I'll have for my troubles is the lingering stench of burning hair and blood that won't wash off my hands.

I hadn't actually thought of changing browser (so I should probably hand in my technical support licence forthwith for being a luser). I might try it with Opera if it doesn't clear up.

It's good to hear all is going well in your life, Crusty.

Thanks for the help everyone! Except Ruo. He knows he's going to Atheist Hell, which I hear has slightly better cellphone reception than Regular Hell.

Anyone having trouble with the main SMBC page today? Because mine won't load anything below the menu bar...

Edit: Seems to be fixed now.

I just noticed another problem with the board, technically speaking.
The "debug error" message thing is back, or was when I posted my last response in the "latest comic" thread.
