[2011-May-21] Deja Vu

Post by Quintushalls »

http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db ... 2252#comic

Anybody ever experience a dream and then live it in real life?

First off, it has to be said, "We have to go deeper." Total Inception here.

Well, I did experience this once. I had one of those dreams where nothing really happens but that I had a strange feeling, like something bad was going to happen. I woke up 4:29 with the same feeling and I couldn't shake it. And then, BAM! The Northridge Earthquake hits! I won't go into too many details of dealing with the aftermath, but that was weird. It isn't exactly like the comic, but it is the closest thing I've experience.

I was watching an interview with Andreas Deja yesterday so I didn't have Deja Vu but j'ai vu Deja.*

It's happened to me once or twice, but the only time I can remember is when my little sister and I had to go to our dad's every weekend. He would pick us up on Friday and take us there, and then either our mom or our big sister would pick us up on Sunday to bring us back home. (I didn't much care for it.) It was usually our sister.

So anyway, one Saturday night I dreamed that my friend (let's call her Emily) came with my sister to pick us up. When my sister got there, she said, "Guess who's here!" and I said, "Emily." And it was.

Not a life-changing prophecy or anything.

Edit: And the joke works ESPECIALLY WELL if you change languages, Smiley! :D

I've experienced it a coule of times, but these premonitions were either very mundane events, or so vague that that it's hard to say for sure that I dreamt it happening. I don't know French, but I liked the joke all the same, Smiley.

I've had vague deja vu. Just where certain transpirings feel eerily familiar. I'd say it happens about once a year.

I often wake up from dreams with a strange sense that something bad is going to happen, and something bad usually happens. Turns out, there is almost always something bad happening, although not necessarily earthquake bad.

The dreams that mess me up are the ones that are so realistic and I recall so vividly that I have a trouble discerning whether they are a dream or a memory of actual events. That happens extremely rarely though.

I once dreamed that this guy I knew had died, and then a year and a half later he did! Of course, he was terminally ill from the beginning, so your mileage may vary.

Another time I dreamed I had superpowers, and when I woke up I had attained the ability to completely ignore pain in my right arm after a mysterious sleep mispositionment! The arm woke up after that though and it kind of sucked.
Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that there isn't an invisible demon

I went through a year or two of this happening pretty frequently. Kinda tricky.

I don't recall much dream deja vu but I've felt deja vu before. The weirdest thing I remember experiencing is when a friend of mine was telling a bunch of us a story, and then a few minutes later told us the exact same story. Same words and all. I mentioned this though, and no one else noticed, so I guess I just imagined it. But it was totally weird.

A similar coincidence that happened to me

I was in a trip to Thailand with the mrs and one night I somehow had a premonition (which I shared with her) that a good childhood friend of mine was there, even though we haven't talked for months. The next morning, we weren't sure what we were going to do that day. I was standing somewhere thinking about the plans for the day when a thought popped into my head out of nowere "never mind, I'll make the decision with my friend when he gets here". At that moment, I turned my head and, I shit you not, saw him standing a few feet away.

He'd actually been with you for days. Everyone was wondering why you were ignoring him.

Actually, the thing that surprised me most was that he was standing outside in the open. I was sure that he was gagged and bound in my hotel room. I was out shopping for a bonesaw when I saw him strolling about.

I read this like 5 times and kept seeing "eating a burglar" as the second-to-last line.
