Wow, that is ridiculous. I mean, it's his heritage. I have friends with the last names Dam, Ennema, Kok and Dyck, and none of them have had any problems... (The first and second sound as they look, the third is sometimes translated as Cook, but is closer to Coke in pronunciation, and the last one, a girl, insists to everyone that she is a "dick not a dyke".)
My friend from university actually went to highschool with someone with the last name Balls. Her first name? Edith. Edith Balls. And I'm not making that up. The friend in question went red-faced just saying it.

That's what I thought of too. Additionally, I had immediate flashbacks to Life of Brian. There was also a hilarious name that a grad student at my college gave his kid without realizing it. I can't quite remember what it was but I'll post it when I do.

How can I forget that my housemate's last name is Frisk.
I have decided that his first child must be named Richard and become a detective, like those black and white detective movies from those wonderful old movies. First, it just sounds right. Detective Frisk. Detective Dick Frisk. Sure its funny, but even without the euphemism, that kind of name definitely fits a b&w detective.

Yes, which is why this article seems so odd to myself. I, a Sydney-sider, would consider Melbourne alike to my beloved city (despite common knowledge that Melbourne is vastly inferior and therefore incomparable to Sydney; but anyway) and I had imagined the community to be similar in terms of the religious ideals and enforcement and whatnot. Bla, bla bla bla bla, bla bla. Even though gay marriage and such is still against the law , I would not consider Australia an exceedingly religious nation (I guess because of cultural diversity, as any spiritual enlightenment forced upon another would probably be met with a beach full of ethnics or something) and the fact that a school in/around a major Australian city would do something like this is, uh, weird?

Oh, and a girl at my school has the last name Pimpin. If that's not a leg up in the prostitution business I don't know what is.

The less said about that phrase, the better.
