Newbie thread?

Post by Society »

Hey, been lurking for a while, and noticed you didn't have a newbie thread. Those are usually a staple food for forums, as far as I can tell. But before I step on any toes...

Hi, I'm society or soci for short. I'm a Canuk from the Toronto area and enjoy paintball, porn, and playing video games, in no particular order.

A newbie thread? Is that where we list posting guidelines or what? Well, since I'm the first to respond I guess I get to make up the guidelines.

1 ) No unoffensive posts.
2 ) You get a title after 100 meaningful posts. Just send a private message to dani.
3 ) GreenCrayon is our sage. If you piss him off, we won't like you.
4 ) Try to stay on topic. If you don't dani will move it to a new thread and that's extra work for her.
5 ) Don't swear too much.
6 ) No stating that Samus could beat Optimus Prime in a fight.
7 ) Don't take anything personally. We all read this comic and thus have a bent sense of humor.
8 ) If you're ever in Seattle, buy me a beer.
9 ) Don't over use the Yamid Seal of Approval.
10) 14 Kilos of Heroin!

Extra rules that I get to make up simply because my account hasn't been banned yet. (And hopefully never will)

1) Canadians come from Canadia.
2) Britonians have the best accent/dress sense/humour/everything.
3) Infanticide is essential.
4) Don't compare SMBC to Far Side. It annoys Dani and she has to spend her precious time typing HUGE posts in response.
5) Don't overuse the :][>:=~+: symbol.

That is all.

I wonder if the next comic will have oily, Zach-shaped smudges on it now.

The only thing missing Is his "Right of Passage" list It must consist of three things we will wait for GreenCrayon to decide what it will be.

1) Nuts.
2) Nougat.
3) Chocolate.

Rite of passage, or ingredient list from snack-like treat? You decide.

Well, I have only been here a few weeks at most, so I would still definately be considered a newbie. So, My name is Simon - Simon for short - From Refried.

I live in Western Australia, and enjoy various things, some nerdy, some not.
Not a big fan of signatures.

Y'know, before this thread, we never really considered who was a "newbie" and who wasn't. The word only ever sprouted in one other thread, and that was in reference to video games, not posts on the forum.

As such, when people ask me* how they can elevate themselves from newbie status, only one piece of advice slops out of my oft-addled thinking process: Boy! You gotta KILL something'!

* People never ask me this.

He's an expert SMBC forum-ist though. He's already killed his neighbours, and their babies.

For your answer has merely opened up further questions. All I know of you is that you aren't limited to one iteration of a town in Hawaii, and as this was extrapolated from your name it's not concrete evidence. Besides, it doesn't tell me who you are. Or what you are. Or what colour your insides/undergarments are. Or why you didn't post in that ubiquitous newbie thread yet. Or why I should care.

Or when.
I'm omni. I'm probably not a perl script. I go commando..that's just how I roll. This is me posting in the newbie thread. You should care because if you don't it will hurt my feelings and no one wants to see a grown man cry. Maybe later.
