The Illusionist, 12 Monkeys, Being John Malkovich, Identity. Honorable mentions: Lucky Number Slevin, Donnie Darko.
I watched Identity without having heard or read anything about it and loved it. I did however start to predict some plot developments halfway through. That didn't take away any of the excitement though.

The chip simulates only things that make one happy.
But this flaw ultimately led to the woman realizing the effects of the chip, which did not make her happy.

As did I, but I didn't predict the end.

Uh. Oh.
That doesn't sound too good.

Which reminds me, I spelled it wrong in my second post--pre-account. I meant repo MEN, not repo MAN.

Why, how do you think it's spelled?
I've certainly been to Canadia, however: http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/252350

HOOOOOOOO
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Or am I?
Stewart Francis you are not....or are you?
That stinging barb would probably be more effective if I knew who you were talking about.

Okay, I know that just a couple comics ago, I complained about a lack of funny, but let me tell you:

This is absolutely brilliant. Beyond amazing. I love it when normally funny webcomic writers come up with things like this. It really shows a depth of writing ability that we just don't normally see. And, aside from that, the comic was awesome.

Wow, someone else read that book as well?

This does seem to be rather similar.

Hi,

I like this comic. Reminds me of the shirt story by John Brunner, "The Easy Way out". In this story two crash landing astronauts have to decide whether to suffer to the bitter end or to switch on a device to enjoy the last hours in a lucky virtual life.

Nice, nice.

There's another SF short story similar to this comic: "The Stuff" by Henry Slesar. In this story a man with fatal injuries gets a new drug and is miraculously healed. Then, he lives a very happy life...
Really? ;-)

Still love stories like these...

Was part of the end removed? Am missing something? IT's not the same ending today as it was when I first saw it.

Same thing here. Now I'm not sure if I'm in reality or have triggered the pleasure chip...

Yes, it seems to have been changed. The last few frames were removed. A quick google search and you can find the original though.

The missing frames:
Mom says "That's odd. He was right next to you when I shot him. Why aren't you covered in Blood? Why aren't you crying?"
Boy says "Because I'm the happiest boy ever and you're the best mommy, and nothing's wrong at all!"
Last frame is the mother with a perplexed look on her face.

Zach realized that having a good comic would ruin his bad comic streak, so he changed it secretly in the hopes that no one would notice he actually wrote something clever for once.

Tats a shame, I really like the original more. It gave both, fatal flaw and horrible revelation feeling. Just..that moment ..the very moment when the horror of the truth dawns..and then you die realizing your child is still in peril.

Man that was brilliant. I wish He would say something about changing it.
