I think he was more talking about in general or even a generous estimate. And you were acting like he was talking about getting a Master's Degree. I don't think that was his point at all. But you're not just missing the point there, you're missing the point with the rest of this post, too. It's not that you'll never get a chance to master something because you've already dedicated yourself to something, it's that you're afraid to try. That thing that you love so much is comfortable. That's all.

I still think it's an overly broad generalization. Like I said, my criticism is mostly just me being pendantic, and pointing out you master some things rather quickly, and some things you may never be satisfied with, and that's alright. If you enjoyed the comic, that's great. I'm not trying to take anything away from you by saying it's more flexible than that. You can still go out and master all these things, and experience things and broaden your horizons and all that jazz. The reason I'm ignoring the point of the comic is that I don't disagree with it. I just had an issue with the argument, not the conclusion.

To be fair, I already understand the fundamentals of programming. I've understood the fundamentals for a long time. I think it might just be how my brain works.
