Kinda cool, actually, but you would more or less need a power plant to run it, wouldn't you? And not a sissy coal-fired one, either. Then again, I suppose a lot of larger naval vessels already have those...

The main ships they plan to arm with these railguns are the Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers. They're nuclear powered, so energy isn't really an issue here, the power's built up and stored, and so much of it's generated that they can go quite a while without having to wait for the actual railgun system to 'charge'. All that aside, just note that this test was at 1/3 estimated capacity.

Not if you can retain your human spirit which according to any anime and most movies will always prevail! Oh yeah and RPGs too. The human spirit always pulls through. That never happens in real life...
