Aaah the Onion. What would we do without you.
I plan on seeing this movie soon with my dad, who is also a star trek fan-lite like myself. Not trekkies mind you, we simply enjoy the series.

Re: Star Trek
I've never really loved The Onion. The only funny part is the headlines which occasionally make me giggle, but when I read the entire articles it's just not that funny. I think something has been lost since they became popular and thus predictable.

They're hit and miss but it's not hard to find something funny.

Re: Star Trek
I don't read the articles, just watch the newscasts they have on their site. I can't imagine the practice it must take to do those with a straight face, but kudos to those actors.

Re: Star Trek
I just saw Star Trek last night; let me just say that I LOVED it.
Quinto was great as Spock, Pine was great as Kirk, Uhura was hot as hell, everyone did a great job.
What struck me as odd though was how much of the "in-jokes" (actually, lets call them references) I got.
I knew that old Spock was with the next generation crew before he time traveled, which made it all the more crazy to think that he was in this alternate timeline with all this knowledge of the future, but no way to use all of it practically.
overall, 4.5/5 stars.
hope there's a sequel.

I'm partial to this one, myself. But then again, I am biased.

Re: Star Trek
Oh, no, I'm not sure the Onion videos are even LOLlerskates, much less a real, live LOLasaurus Rex.

Re: Star Trek
Double post 'cause I hate you all! Does anyone watch CollegeHumor? I hadn't seen any in a while but the other day I saw this. Now, that is a LOLasaurus Rex.

Re: Star Trek
I find that with the Onion articles, all you really have to read is the title. The actual article doesn't really add to the funny of the by-line. The books are pretty funny, if you ever get around to reading one. I currently have Our Dumb World on my night-stand (right next to your mom's teeth), as my coworker lent it to me in exchange for my fake travel guide of Molvania.Rainbow wrote:Oh, man, the videos are pretty fantastic. The videos are definitely best, though. I don't care for the panel discussion ones, though, as they tend not to have enough deferring opinion like a real news panel does.

Re: Star Trek
Yeah, CollegeHumor isn't always funny. Sometimes I feel like it is a live-action family guy clip, which is just strange and stupid, then they make something like Powerthirst and I love them again. I prefer the whitest kids you know, I think. Whatcah got there? Gallon of PCP. I was just watching this one and it made me giggle like crazy.
