What is it with the climate over there? They say we have pretty hot days in Austrlia, but you guys don't even need kettles!Phoenix wrote:That sounds like waco. Yes, it's HOT AS FUCK here right now. It's been over 100 degrees for the past week - we finally had some cloud cover today, although no rain.
I grew up in Austin/Round Rock, so I've pretty much been in Texas my whole life.

Dunno... as far as I'm concerned, it's just the way it's always been... In the part of Texas I live in, we're close enough to the coast to get some of their humidity, but far enough away to avoid the cooler breezes. Central texas is also a FAVORITE hangout of high pressure systems, which keep rain and clouds away for weeks, months at a time.

Once again the joke goes way over the average American's head. And yeah, I know all about those high pressure systems, in summer they are our best friends and they tend to hang around quite often. You Texans need to learn to hit the beach.

It wasn't that funny.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

I saw it, it was just more fun to respond to you as if you weren't joking than simply acknowlege the joke.

I went to the beach once in Texas. The sand was black and strewn with trash and broken glass. The waves were about as high as the average waves on the shore of a lake.
Phoenix, how did you manage to become liberal-leaning with all the brainwash in Texas? I spent my first 7 years on the East Coast, plus I had my parents' liberal influence at home. It was pretty funny, when I was in 4th grade, they made us write essays about how awesome we thought it was that our governer was running for the presidency. All my peers said how Bush will solve all the country's problems and keep our families safe and shit rainbows and here I am disagreeing. Someone asked me, "How can you be against him? He's our governer!" To which I would respond "Just because he runs a state doesn't mean he's capable of running the whole damn country!"
Boy do I wish I had been wrong.

Hahah, that's why everything in your country is fucked up and all of the cities are gone and the sun never shines and you're all dead.

You're from texas? Your description of the beach sounds like Port Aransas... Also, we had to do the same thing, but I think I was in 6th grade maybe? sometime in middle school, I think... but it was Bush's first run as president. However, it wasn't "write about how awesome he is" but "watch the debate, and write down who you think is the better candidate and why". Not suprisingly, the results at my school were identical to yours. My family is heavily democrat, which helped me to avoid the brainwashing. however, I'm not one or the other, as I prefer to vote for the best candidate at the time, whether he's republican or democrat, but I refuse to pick a candidate just because he's from a certain party. Having said that, the past 3 elections, the democrats got my vote (though I could only vote in the last 2)natinia wrote:I went to the beach once in Texas. I feel for the canadians, I cannot watch hulu or adultswim videos, but I do have BBC iplayer and 4OD which make up for it. People who have used both hulu and iplayer unanimously agree that iplayer is better.

We still get torrents... But they're throttled.
