I almost accidentally applied to join a cult.

Everything else.

I'd do it just to check out the weirdos. At least its not one of those groups with "compulsive" membership.

If it happens again, I suggest taking a closer look at your resume. You probably added a pointer about liking weird cults subconsciously and then forgot about it. Happens all the time.

Since when is chemistry not a science?

You should try and find a Stiner school. That would appeal to most hippy types. But they are not very common, nor am I sure if they are in America anywhere. Which makes my suggestion entirely useless.

It's so awful that there are very few hippies that I can take seriously... Some of the things they do I don't mind, but they throw in everything and it just makes them batshit insane and I think that's why regular people are so afraid to do "hippie things" like meditation, or recycling.

I do do hippy things, I just don't want to do the batshit insane things. Also, I don't smoke pot.

Seems like nowadays all you have to do to be a hippie is maybe not eat meat, be a little artsy and care about the environment.

You don't even need to do wild drugs, rebel against your parents and never shower any more.

I have a cousin who recently went hippie. It was a gradual shift. It began with him smoking pot, then he began listening to Bob Marely music, next think I know he's a vegetarian, has dreads and is living in a tent in his parents backyard in order to be closer to nature (it's worth noting he's only 16). When he grows up he wants to wander aimlessly and live off the land. He is probably one of my favourite people in the world right now.

Aren't you mixing up hippies and rastafarians?

I think there's a lot of overlap.

I find it convenient, because I am a vegetarian, a teensy bit artsy, believe in socialism, and care about the environment.

And, you're right, I shower far too much to be a proper hippy.

You also don't spell hippie right! You could never join their cult.
