Taught by the Internet

Post by Edminster »

What does spending your time clicking random links teach you?

Well, for starters it teaches you that you need better virus protection software. But really, it teaches you that Disney is crazy good at rotoscoping.

Or that a space-borne self-replicating automaton is called an Astrochicken.

Heck, it even teaches about the existence of electronic cigarettes.

How about you guys? What has the Internet taught you that you would probably never have learned otherwise?

I learned about Electronic Cigarettes at a kiosk in the mall, thank you very much.

I still don't know anything about electronic cigarettes and plan to remain so by not clicking on Ed's link.

Also I believe the most interesting thing I ever learnt from clicking random links on the interwebs was how atomic energy and nuclear fission was viewed in the 1950s.

Also that doctors were prescribing radium and other various radioactive substances for common medical problems as late as the 1930s.

Oh, man! I almost forgot that the spikey end of a Stegosaur is called a Thagomizer, after the late Thag Simmons.

Everything I know about porn I owe to the internet. I might have been an upstanding normal person if not for the internet... how boring.

The internet taught me just how dirty chairs are.

Others I'm not sure what I might have learned without the internet, I love trivial things far to much and probably would have hunted the information down anyways.

I learned about electronic cigarettes at the mall too, little kiosk trying to pimp them out to people.
I mostly ignored the booth for the hilarity of the diet supplement one run by an overweight/unhealthy looking female that was next to it. It made me giggle at the just levels of wrong/irony.

Initial thought: ohdeargod

Second thought: She probably should have mentioned it's NSFW.

Tertiary though: Man, I hope there are no workplaces where that is safe for work.

Asherian didn't put NSFW on those chairs. That is straight up pornography. Also, no one is really on the forum at work (except Khazd, for a while) or around anywhere where there might be consequences for that stuff, are they?
