Is it just me or does it seem redundant to have both a comments section and a forum devoted to the comic?

I think it is roughly 18043% better than having a thread dedicated to every comic. Not that we've had that, but others...

Every single thread will just say "this is the best SMBC ever!"

I guess we'd probably get a lot more trolls.

Y'know I just put that in for my comic, and I'm not sure about it either. I dunno, I feel like the kids gotta have their comment sections these days, but no way I can think of to approach it really seems satisfying.

I like it the way SMBC has it because I've been to the comments about twice ever. So I don't have to see that crap. There is some validity to having it, I just don't care about it myself*.

*Actually, of the 10 or so posts I've made on XKCD, I think most of them were in comic comments, because I had no desire to join the forum, just to make a quick comment in agreement with a comic.

I would join the xkcd forum, but the thrill I get when reading something I disagree with would probably quickly leave if it was happening so often.

Man I just got off the qwantz/wondermark forum (tabb), and I'm almost too damn angry to be safely typing on the internets right now. I'm getting irritated with showing up in a new place and basically getting "YOU'RE DIFFERENT, ASSHOLE" right off the bat.

And then Ed classifies them as spambots and we go on our way.

Seriously, Spinn, why can't you be more like us? I'm starting to think you'll never be able to adapt to our forum.
