Oh yeah, I guess I could. Though the shine's kinda been taken off that for me since the cat's, uh, state was determined.

I was interested in joining the xkcd forum*, but I was intimidated by its shear size and now never intend to join.Lethal Interjection wrote:*Actually, of the 10 or so posts I've made on XKCD, I think most of them were in comic comments, because I had no desire to join the forum, just to make a quick comment in agreement with a comic.
*Cause I like the comic and the stuff they discuss there.

Bigger than average size of shears, Apocalyptus.
So much slightly bigger.

I like some of the discussion, but a lot of it seems erudite from my previous browsings.Euclidthegreek wrote:I was interested in joining the xkcd forum*, but I was intimidated by its shear size and now never intend to join.Lethal Interjection wrote:*Actually, of the 10 or so posts I've made on XKCD, I think most of them were in comic comments, because I had no desire to join the forum, just to make a quick comment in agreement with a comic.

It has increased and changed over time, for sure. I think when I first joined they probably had about as many sections as we do, granted a lot more active. But since that point it has grown and become a bit cumbersome for those who aren't already entrenched in the board.

Yeah I went over and looked after you mentioned. It looks kinda neat, but oof. Not so much a wall of text as a sprawling metropolis of text and its outlying suburbs.

Yeah. I don't like websites that threaten me with sharp pointy things.Cirtur wrote:Bigger than average size of shears, Apocalyptus.

Do any of you actually frequent the comments section? I always forget about it. We should chat there more. I like the semi-permanence of forum posts, but I also like real-time conversations.

We should open an IRC chatroom or something. It'd be much better for when everyone's online at once.

Re: Is it possible for the comments section to work properly?
I kind of like this idea, or an IRC chatroom. The disadvantage to using the comments box, I think, would be all the trolls. Though we might be able to recruit more SMBC fans to the forum.Neglected Shoe wrote:Do any of you actually frequent the comments section? I always forget about it. We should chat there more. I fully endorse this IRC product or service. If my server weren't total crap for keeping an IRC server alive, I'd offer it.
