If Kimra ever reappears, you should ask her about it. That's what she's doing now.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Sorry, I phrased that badly. I don't want to to work in a school forever.Snarky00 wrote:I used to hate school. Did everything I could to avoid it. Now that I'm going again I realize there is probably nothing I would rather do than learn. If I won the lottery I would just buy a house near a university and go to school for the rest of my life.smiley_cow wrote:I don't want to be in school forever.
I can be a student my whole life, I really like University. If it wasn't for this annoying need to eventually be able to support myself I'd just keep taking University classes for the rest of my life.
There's also a huge demand for ESL teachers here in Canadia.Lethal Interjection wrote:On a semi-related note, the Slovakian co-worker that I trained was in and we were talking. He really thought I should look into ESL teaching. Which I understand can pay quite well. I'll probably look into it further this weekend: what it would take, and the like.

Personally I recommend spy, assassin, or potential Soilent Green candidate, but that's just me. I would have said something about prostitution but it's been covered.
Out of curiosity, what made you decide you don't want to work at a school for the rest of your life? My lady is currently studying up to teach little bastards in elementary school, and I simply cannot comprehend why. I'm of the opinion that children are meant for two things: eating and beating, however you (for awhile at least) seem to have found some sort of worth in the work so what changed?
So far as actual recommendations go: I'm going to have to say go with something corporate for the time being. Knowing another language is a good foot in the door for almost any job, assuming you're willing to do utterly mundane things at first (you don't get to interrogate people in foreign languages immediately, from what I understand you start off translating papers and are trained from there).

I like all those things except the third one. Maybe when I'm older.Raziel wrote:Personally I recommend spy, assassin, or potential Soilent Green candidate, but that's just me. I would have said something about prostitution but it's been covered.
I've been in schools my entire life already. To me, school is a safe thing because it's a world I know, and working in one is knowing exactly what I'm getting into. I think it's time I started taking more risks, and really looking around to find out what I want to do with my life. Working in a school, from where I am now just seems like I'm taking the safe option. (If this makes any sense at all).Out of curiosity, what made you decide you don't want to work at a school for the rest of your life? The advantages teaching had in my mind were basically: It's work you can find meaning in, it's always different and it's always interesting. If it wasn't for the fact I discovered I absolutely hated teaching French, it wouldn't have been a bad way to spend my life. Other jobs in a school though, especially ones that aren't spent with the kids, wouldn't work for me at all for reasons said above.
Living in the middle of nowhere like I do, the world of corporate life is something completely alien to me. I wasn't even aware that knowing another language was even that useful. I do know government jobs really like it if you can speak French (you know, having to official languages and all), what sort of things would a corporation want someone with another language for?So far as actual recommendations go: I'm going to have to say go with something corporate for the time being. Business overseas, but more importantly it's a skill that employers want because it allows them a great deal of flexibility, especially in an almost bilingual country like Canadia (assuming you stay there).
Also having another language shows you have the skills the learn one, skills like memory and understanding.

What he said. My friend's mother works doing something like that; her knowledge of Chinese got her a well paying job as an assistant, which involves translating. That's definitely an option for you, but personally I think a corporate job sounds terribly boring. But hey, whatever floats your boat.*Croissant wrote:Business overseas, but more importantly it's a skill that employers want because it allows them a great deal of flexibility, especially in an almost bilingual country like Canadia (assuming you stay there).

Why not throw your hat into the SysAdmin ring?.. that's where the money, long hours, sarcasm and free doughnuts are! (Good coffee a strong possibility.)

Then maybe you can explain to us how such things fuckin' work.LordRetard wrote:Become a newspaper magnet. Have love on your own terms.
