SMBC is probably a fanfic to [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Forever_War[/url], set in a homonormative future. Either this or Zach is trying desperately to score some political correctness points. Although I do not see why he's making all his characters raging homos when it doesn't serve any purpose to the plot.
