The sandwich representing womanhood means that his alternative to "winning at salad" is to accept that the feminine choice is superior; not that somehow the sandwich itself is feminine.

Yours is much deeper, so I'm a little embarrassed so share crass reading of this, but:
If you stand the traditional triangular sandwich (especially toasted one) on it's side (so the hypotenuse is vertical and facing you) it kinda looks like, you know, the vagina.

The last time the red-button-punchline didn't make sense though because judging by the ingredients, other than olives that can be picked out easily, the salad must taste awesome.

The salad is a metaphor for life in that the customer is focusing on the abstract concept of 'winning' rather than having a salad he would actually get enjoyment out of in the same way that some people idolize the concept of success in life to the detriment of genuine happiness or enjoyment in the moment.
