trying to find a specific strip - no results = no work?

Hi! I'm trying to find a specific strip where a PhD student is reporting progress to his advicer. None of the things he tried worked, so the adviser basically says "so you did nothing", and he tries to explain "no, it's not that I did nothing, it's that none of the things I tried worked". My Google-fu has failed me when trying to rediscover this strip. Please help! 
I just like SMBC so much I assume it was from here...
