I heard she was getting married right away though, isn't she? Not that excuses it, but maybe explains it somewhat?

Oh. That's less bad, I guess, than if they brought the subject up apropos of nothing.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Really? So sad.Apocalyptus wrote:Apparently some Australian woman won a gold medal in snowboarding. But all the commentators were talking about was how beautiful she is and how she's gonna make a great bride and better start planning her wedding soon.
I hate Australian commercial television.
Nothing's more fun than sexism!

Re: The Olympics!
The womens snowboarding was kind of sad to watch. Half of them fell on their asses.

Wait, I thought that was the point.

Yeah, the main revenue from the Olympics is those juicy ass shots of the female competitors.
Well the unmarried ones.

Re: The Olympics!
You can replace 'women's snowboarding' with 'women's downhill ski', 'pairs figure skating, long program', 'men's figure skating, long program'* and that phrase would still be accurate. Probably other events as well, but that's what I've been watching.Snarky00 wrote:The womens snowboarding was kind of sad to watch. Half of them fell on their asses.
*Actually there was a face plant in this one too.

Re: The Olympics!
Yeah, it has been a messy olympics that way.
Watching the super-aggressive speedskaters (primarily the Koreans, and to a lesser extent the Americans). And getting very disappointed that the 3 medal hopefuls were beat, including the Hamelin brothers, who despite being 2 of 5 in the final, did not get a medal. Canadia is going to be lucky to get 15 medals this year. Which is a huge step down from 4 years ago, and rather embarassing for being on home soil.

Re: The Olympics!
Look at the bright side, at least we managed to win a gold this time.
The only channel I can find figure skating on is French; I'm a lot less annoyed at this than my Mom is. Also we just moved into second, but it's still early and we still have another team!

Thank goodness I chose to watch figure skating and not hockey.

Re: The Olympics!
On the third night of ice dancing. I've devoted three nights to this event, we'd better get a medal.

Re: The Olympics!
Yeah, I heard that this morning.
Might you be able to explain the difference between Ice Dancing and Pairs Figureskating?
