Re: Gays have literally destroyed the institution of marriage.
I dunno, I thought it was a legitimate point.
Followed by gratuitous sexism.
So, I guess that makes it a classic Ahmetism, after all.

Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Exactly, it's got all three elements of an Ahmetism; an argument, something offensive, and something totally unconnected.

Re: Gays have literally destroyed the institution of marriage.
I'm just so glad to see we've categorized Ahmet to the point of a verb. That's just fantastic!
As far as the rape thing goes it is beyond creepy just how many woman are into that shit. Especially when you consider the ones who don't tell you, let you, then report you to the cops the next morning to make it feel real.
I'm against marriage defined by the state, but really thats just cause I find the source of marriage laws on a state and federal level highly offensive. (Yes, there are federal marriage laws already in place, from the late 1800s, I find it odd those didn't come up in the big debates a'tall.) Marriage is religious, civil contracts state, wee look! Separate!
Also is it really that offensive to be pro-choice and pro-death penalty, or just to have them connected in that way? If so should we include you being pro-meat just to add some soylent green to the picture?
if we stop encouraging him, then he might start making sense again. I'm not sure I can handle that, it was confusing as all sin.

It's not offensive to be pro-those things, but when someone makes it look like you're a fan of death it looks bad, even though it isn't.

I normally sum it up as 'pro-death' though, I never saw the issue with it.
I support assisted suicides in cases of long term no-cure diseases too, I see forcing them to live past when they wish to for pain, or other reasons, cruel and unusual. Again all part of the pro-death platform.

Now your problem seems to be you see death as a bad thing. Those who die don't mourn, only us left behind. (I feel this applies whether you believe in the soul and its release into heaven/reincarnation, or believe only oblivion and rot of the corpse is the following of death.

I really just am pro-death. I'm not even really that interested in death penalty or youth-in-Asia or abortion discussions anymore. Actually, I am pro-abortion (not pro-choice) but I don't have much of an opinion on the other two. I guess they're better economically.

Re: Gays have literally destroyed the institution of marriage.
I support euthanasia, as long as proper procedures are put into place to stop people deciding to use it for purely economic reasons (killing the patient off to avoid expensive treatment and using up hospital resources when treatment is available). At the moment, it seems difficult to enable to ensure that sort of thing won't happen, so I hold against it until such a solution can be conceived.
Death penalty I understand again for economic purposes, but it seems the death penalty really appeals to our desire for vengeance more than anything else. If we could throw these criminals into a giant bottomless pit for all eternity instead, that would be the preferrable option for me. Since it's not, I still support life sentences instead as there are too many cases where police have framed innocent people in an attempt to get the case over with, particularly in America, and with a life sentence police can face legislation if they try that sort of stunt and fail.

I agree with Ahmet.AHMETxRock wrote:I actually support not letting the state try to define marriage. It's under the dominion of each person's religion. Everything else is just common law paperwork.
Wouldn't the giant bottomless pit also be appealing to our desire for vengeance? The thing about the death penalty is it's actually lest economical than life imprisonment.Sahan wrote:Death penalty I understand again for economic purposes, but it seems the death penalty really appeals to our desire for vengeance more than anything else.
