So I heard Kim Jong-Il is dead.

Post by JustAnotherRandomLad »

And then I realized that there's no topic for it here. Well, there is now.

This is a place for you guys to answer questions like:
-What do you think is going to happen now?
-Are you glad he's dead?
-Why am I trying to redirect your potentially complex thoughts about this toward simplistic questions?
And so on.

He's the dead one. Kim Jong the Third can't be Supreme President King Most Glorious Nation North Korea, 'cause he was ostracised for secretly flying out to Japan to go to Disneyland in 2001.

I think the 72 hour window after his death is a critical time-period. If the status quo is going to change under his son, it will change in this time. China wants North Korea to stay right where it is, Kim Jong-Un might want to flex his military muscle for a bit to bolster support. North Korea will face total annihilation if it attempts anything too serious against the S. It's a delicate balance, but unless something drastic happens in the next couple of days, I'm thinking things will probably stay more or less the same as DR said.

At least if Kim Jong-Un doesn't work out they've still got Kim Jong-Deux and Kim Jong-Trois in reserve.

Last I heard it wasn't even certain if Kim Jong-un will be taking over or if his uncle will be acting as regent since he's so young. I think what most people are hoping for is that he'll be a weak leader and the regime will fall apart.

That was a different one.

While China doesn't want a North Korea that's friendlier to the West, it mainly wants stability. China isn't happy about the stream of refugees coming over the border, and any instability will only worsen the problem. So perhaps they fear deviations from the status quo will increase instability. But the way things are aren't ideal for China either.

My prediction is that Kim Jong-Un is secretly an Amnesty International plant who's going to start throwing out basic human rights like Mardi Gras beads.
He will also throw out a lot of Mardi Gras beads.

It is possible that I am not using the word prediction correctly here.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Regarding the move: I was hoping to get some political discussion out of this, but I suppose it is primarily a news thing. Ah, well.

Regarding just about everyone's comments here:
That is all.

No, that's definitely the way to use it.

I would prefer not to live in North Korea

After all, in their regime they don't even pretend that you could be the ruler someday.

I can't believe how much play the Rick Perry "Kim Jong the Second" has gotten.
It was just a stupid mistake, probably because someone was mindlessly copying the sentence out on a computer.
It doesn't make the guy stupid.
