I don't think you get female surnames.

You can in some languages, like Russian. I don't know if it applies to Japanese though.

Re: Sword naming contest
I'm relatively certain that Japanese does not have gender for family names.
FUN FACT: Russian last names are based on gender because they are based off of words that are grammatical adjectives. This is a feature shared with other slavic languages, including Czech and Polish. Because of this, even two people with the same last name that are of different genders will use a different spelling and pronunciation.

Re: Sword naming contest
Kaida means something like 'little dragon' I think. Amaya I have been unable to find information on, and Noriko means 'law' or 'order'. Keep in mind, these definitions are coming from various baby-naming resources.HARDKORE wrote:I probably didnt have the best source. Can someone tell me what they mean?

Behind The Name is generally the first place I look.
Anyway, it looks like Amaya is Spanish. Honestly it didn't really look Japanese to me. The origin is Basque, meaning "the end". That would be a fucking heavy name for your children! "What's your kid's name?" "Oh, she is the omen of all death and destruction, Amaya."

My name means a tree! Trees are wicked deep. I have never seen a poem as lovely as one, you know.

Neither of my names were on that website, so I looked them up somewhere else.

I've already posted my name. You can go find it if you like. It'll be like a treasure hunt, except just as crappy.

Actually I remembered your name, but I thought that it'd be funnier if it was Perry.Rainbow wrote:I've already posted my name. You can go find it if you like. It'll be like a treasure hunt, except just as crappy.

Re: Sword naming contest
Yeah, I discovered this when I heard that that Russian tennis player Marat Safin had a sister named Dinara Safina, and then it occured to me that every Russian female person I could think of had a surname ending with the letter a, and also usually in the first name too. Weird.LordRetard wrote:I'm relatively certain that Japanese does not have gender for family names.

My name ironically means gift from god (Yahweh). This will probably give away my name, but I don't care.
