The weather outside!

Post by LordRetard »

So, everyone in Toronto is shitting their pants over how awful the weather has been lately (coincidentally, the garbage-folk went on strike at about the same time, so it's going to start to smell very soon). Right now it's not much above 20 celsius (70 fahrenheit) but our humidity is about 80% and is supposed to get to 100% tonight, which is, in Torontonian slang, "a bitch". It looks like it'll rain on Sunday and that'll knock the humidity down for a couple of days (right when I'm at work, thank god).

But I'm not just here to complain about our weather! Today, right now, I am asking... you... about the weather where you are. This way I'll know where to escape to when the shit hits the fan. I know where some of you guys live and I bet things might be much worse over there but I'll note that this is about the worst it gets here, excepting when the actual temperature reaches over 30 and I've seen literally one or two days with dry heat like that in my life.

Don't come here, we've been hovering around 30ºC for two weeks now. And that's not including humidity which has been consistently adding a few degrees.

I'm not about to complain though, our winter which was a good three months of -30º weather except for brief breaks in the -40º range is still very fresh in my mind.

I know people think I'm weird for this but I find that about -10ºC is optimal for me, and I'm still comfortable until about -20ºC (windchill lowers my tolerance for cold quite a bit, though). Your winter sounds more severe than this, though. I feel obligated to see it at least once.

We've been around 90-100° Fahrenheit (I don't know or care what that is in Celsius), and that's when it's not raining or overcast. After it rains (usually a huge thunderstorm) it gets very muggy and the mosquitoes come out to feast on our tasty flesh. Whatever you do, do not come to South Florida.

Also, hurricanes soon? I haven't heard of anything yet, but there'll be tropical storms soon, I'm sure.

I think -10ºC to -20º is perfect winter temperature, but I won't complain so long as we don't get above -5º. If it's too warm everything starts to melt and the roads get slippery, and anything colder and you can't be outside for more than ten minutes. You are also the first person I have ever heard say they want to see our winters, but you're welcome of course.

I've been using this to convert, so far it's served me well. 90-100ºF is about 32-37ºC for the curious.

It definitely sounds better than South Florida's summers, for instance.

Sunny and humid, just like TO. I heard there was a major storm that rolled through Southern Ontario yesterday? I didn't see it, and I don't think it came through this way.
I'm content with the weather, but mostly because I have a few days off, and the AC + basement = awesome.

Actually I think it's rolling through tonight. Normally it's not so bad in my basement but the air has just been really awful lately, even though we have a dehumidifier.

Its apparently 71ºF here, with 61% humidity. All I know is my tin box of a house feels like an oven if I don't turn the swamp cooler on, but it feels very pleasent outside.

(I had to cheat and look up the stats on weather.com, I normally don't care enough to find out the actual numbers beyond 'sunny and damn hot, melting, death trap to leave the house.)

No, there was apparently one yesterday.
And there was definitely one today in Hamilton, about 5 or 6 hours ago.
Another one tonight, though, eh?
We may or may not get it. Hamilton pretty much seems to have its own weather system.

Hamilton is pretty much cut off from all civilisation in southern ontario, isn't it?

Florida's weather is so screwed up it's crazy. I was in a McDonalds once, and it was raining on one side of the McDonalds, and on the other side it was sunny. The other day we had a sun thunderstorm, as in it was sunny out but it was raining buckets and there was thunder.
