I almost accidentally applied to join a cult.
And this is why, kids, you should do research on things before you join them!
If we weren't such good friends, I'd wish you were dead.

Scientology's big in Toronto. We have a church on Yonge, near College or Wellesley, I think.

I don't get it. Were you about to write the story and suddenly had to rush out of the house?

Thank god you didn't accidentally apply to join a cult!
It's always best to do these types of things intentionally.

Astasia is either being a story tease or the cultists followed her home and kidnapped her.

She's done this before, but that doesn't mean that cults haven't been involved in the past.

Re: I almost accidentally applied to join a cult.
Once upon a time, a young girl named astasia needed a teaching job. On the interwebs, she found a school that seemed perfect to apply to! It was a private high school about an hour away. The advertised their focus on organic, vegetarian meals and on meditation. Being the hippy that she is, astasia thought sounded excellent, and quickly asked the school for an application. The school applied, and supplied some additional information.
The type of meditation they did is one called "Transcendental Meditation" (Registered Trade Mark Here). It turns out, when you look on their website, that they just encourage 20 minutes of natural, calming meditation per day. That's hardly crazy! It's been practiced by people the world over. However, if you look deeper, they suck you in with the non-crazy, and then whip out the crazy.
Beliefs of Transcendental Meditationists include "national invulnerability" that can be brought around by a whole group of people praying at one time, yogic flying,, and, of course, giving them lots of your money. If you would like to read more about this cult, you can visit: http://www.suggestibility.org/, which is created by a former teacher of the Transcendental Meditation philosophy.
(Also, sorry, I forgot that I started this thread. Plus, you know, I like being a tease.)

Ah, thank you.Sanjay wrote:Sorry the teaching job didn't work out.
Nothing to do but to keep applying.
Hopefully, to non-cults.
