Oh no! My shamisen's bridge has broken.

Post by sotic »

I own a shamisen. It's fun to play, but it's a pretty cheap one. So cheap, in fact, that a few days ago while I was stringing it up to play it, the bridge just broke under the tension of the strings. Here are the remains.

So I went to Menards, got some suitable wood, and made a new one.

Not only is it playable, but the sustain is longer and the tone is better (in my opinion).

Fuckyeah.

Also, whose idea was it to have to tie the strings onto a piece of rope? There has to be a better way.

This was a complete story, you're just showing off. And I'm going out on a limb here, and saying the Japanese decided where to tie the strings.
