Any PC Gamers Have Recommendations?

I've always been interested in PC gaming, but never had the money for a decent gaming rig. A few months ago after the death of my laptop, I broke down and bought a Gateway FX, not the greatest PC I'm sure but it should be strong enough to run most games, which leads me to my question. While I'm waiting for StarCraft II, anyone have any recommendations for good games to play?

Pocket Tanks! :o

I've been playing it for 8 years and I'm still not bored of it, plus the creator is updating it with new weapons in may. (It's been 8 months since the last update so I can't wait! Glee!)

Tread Marks! 8)

I've been playing it for 8 years and I'm still not bored of it, plus the creator/sole programmer died back in 2000. So there's no need to worry about updates!

Seumas McNally, President and Lead Programmer of Longbow Digital Arts, died on March 21st, 2000 at 2 PM EST, following a three-year battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Please view photos of Seumas and the Main Tribute Site.
Can we get a fact check on Aisle 3?

I recently downloaded a PSX emulator but then I forgot about it. I guess I don't really want to play Chrono Cross that much, but I saw it for sale for $30 still and that's insane.

For me all I played on the PC was RTS by Blizzard and FPS by id, so that's all I really know, but I haven't bought anything recently.

I use my PC for older games mostly, like Dungeon Keeper 1&2 and my all time fave, Wasteland/fallout/fallout 2/ fallout tactics. Although I did enjoy Left 4 Dead alot more on the PC than on my Xbox. You just get a level of control for a FPS on the PC that you don't get on a console system. Same goes for RTS games like Starcraft/Warcraft and the like.

Get Steam and buy Audio Surf (only $10). It takes your music and turns it into a space 'racetrack' where you gain points by hitting certain colored bricks and avoiding others. (There are also a bunch of different game modes as well) It's cheap, fun, and addicting. Steam has a huge library of games on it, and the licenses get attached to your account so wherever you can log in to Steam you can download and play your games.

Dude, I love Audiosurf, and I'm pretty good at it (if I do say so myself). May I direct you to this thread?

We should totally swap Steam IDs.

Are we talking actual PC games or the the kind of games that have been discussed so far?

Anything really, I was thinking more of "real" pc games, but small addictive games aren't bad. I was just thinking to myself that since buying the PC, the only real games I've played on it were Spore (Disappointing), and World of Goo off steam, which is very good, but probably something I could have done with my old PCs. Once this semester ends in a couple weeks, I'll finally have a little time to invest in actually playing games.

Don't underestimate Dwarf Fortress.
It doesn't look like much, but there's all kinds of depth in there.
