You know, one of the story threads that I want my life to turn into involves me living in Irkutsk in order to escape someone.LordRetard wrote:I don't like sharing. Or dying from starvation or being sent to Siberia. I guess I'm really just selfish.

I'm fairly certain that Irkutsk was a name invented for that Risk game.

Bizarre.

Agreed that the largest part of enjoying any MMO is the social interaction part, not having a good group of friends/guild to play with. That being said I tried warhammer and couldn't play it. Just the character creation screen was glitchy enough to be painful. Actually getting into the game the constant clipping (on any computer I saw it on, not just mine.) just made it unplayable to me. Add in I'm not a big fan of pvp type games and any interest in it was just shot.natinia wrote: Now I'm playing Warhammer Online and liking it quite a bit. There's not as many annoying preteens (or whiny preteen equivilants) as in WoW. I think my choice to play on the evil side helped that out a bit too.
Anyway I think a large part of the MMO experience that is being ignored in this thread is the community. I have to say social interactions has to make up at least 40-60% of my enjoyment in these types of games.

Hmmm. For someone who has played almost every MMO out there, I am surprised I have not posted in here. Strange.

Really? I've never experienced it THAT bad, and I've been playing since closed beta (then again, my computer was broken during launch and the 3 weeks after. Maybe your settings were messed up for some reason? Or, yknow, maybe your computer and the computers of all your friends just suck. It definately needs a better computer than Warcrack does. I used to raid in Warcrack with my parents crappy old dell, 512mb ram, single core processor, and onboard graphics (Basically. Technically: Intel Extreme Graphics! ) Needless to say, loading 40 people + the mobs we were killing was painful. Very painful.
Right now my system is alright, nothing crazy. Dual core, 2gig ram, Geforce 8800 GTS. It runs WAR with no problems, even with easy alt-tabbing.

Re: [possibly a] MMO discussion! Yay!
Work of Warcraft is both new to me, and disturbingly accurate. Then again, I know a few to many people who've replaced having a real job with it.
Considering at least a few of the systems are pretty top end I doubt it was that, could have been settings errors though. It was during launch, not beta maybe it was just server overloads. WoW is hardly a reliable standard I know, but Crisis at full graphics potential means that ours aren't exactly below par. Crisis looks beautiful, warhammer online looks like something half finished and poorly designed, its not the computer.

Re: [possibly a] MMO discussion! Yay!
I find a lot of new MMOs look half-finished. Why can't people write code for graphics that fade smoothly into each other. It's the difference between these two:
And I know which I prefer.
