Worst Gaming Deals of the past 4 years.
Aloha, all you bright and shiny people.
I came across an article on yahoo earlier today, describing only a few of the many ripoffs that us gamers come across on a fairly regular basis.
The article describes the usual bs: microtransactions (ala the golden horse armor for oblivion), gamestop's absurd 5$ trade in rates and the grossly overpriced xbox live adapter; aka things that most level headed people see and laugh about. But then there was this:
WOW. Playstation never fails to amaze me. hell, I doubt that they are the primary party to blame on this. But yeah, you saw it right: geek squad will setup and configure your console, install the latest firmware updates, setup and configure local user accounts with parental controls, and even setup and configure an online account, all for the paltry sum of $129.99.
I dont know about you, but when you have to pay half of the console's original price to have it set up for you, chances are you dont need one in the first place. Then again, I had to learn how to connect an rf adapter on an nes for myself when i was 5, so the basic configuration, a/v and power connector setup is nothing for me. your thoughts, please.

When I worked in the Nintendo call center one of my primary job functions was talking people through setting up their consoles. 129 is a bit much but considering that they drive out to your place with 1-2 people that are way overqualified for the job it's not unreasonable.

Hey hey, remember that Battle-Mech game that you had to play with that huge cargo-loader-from-Aliens-style peripheral? It cost, like, €365,65.769 or whatever and the game wasn't even that good!
What was that game? And did the peripheral work with other Battle-Mech games?
What's the best mechgame ever? (Grizzly) Bear in mind I like good-looking games, like Night Trap and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The control was a great concept and very realistic. It made playing the game a pain in the ass unless you took the time to do silly things like figure out how to walk.

If it takes 2 people to set up a video game console, Geek Squad's dropped their standards.Snarky00 wrote:When I worked in the Nintendo call center one of my primary job functions was talking people through setting up their consoles. 129 is a bit much but considering that they drive out to your place with 1-2 people that are way overqualified for the job it's not unreasonable.

It's not so much a thing that takes two people as it is a "If there are two people in the car we aren't going to waste time dropping one of them off before we go to this call". But I have never used or worked with Geek Squad so I have no idea if they go out with more than one person.

If you can get realism into a giant robot game, that is it. I mean if giant robots existed, that's what the cockpit would be like.Snarky00 wrote:The control was a great concept and very realistic. It was a cool game. I'm just saying every time I tried to play my mech ended up falling on its face and I started cussing.

I hate video games because they make me violent and aggressive. Like, once I played GTA and then set fire to a homeless person.
