Okay, get this: I did some research (that is, checked the wiki article); turns out it's a French art* film from the 1995 Cannes Film Festival. Well, good luck finding someone who's seen it. I guess I wouldn't be that surprised considering our forum.

*I just snuck that word in to make more of an impression, I don't know if it's an art film but I think it sounds funnier.

On a related note: I watched another movie! This time it was Tokyo Gore Police. The name just 'bout sums it up. If you're a fan of over-the-top, I'd say it's worth a watch, but certainly not worthy of owning.

If it means anything, I was going to see Micmacs this year, a film made by the same director, but then my friends couldn't make the time and it never happened. Though I've heard great reviews about City of Lost Children.

Wait wait wait. In Canadia they've taken away your right to rape? What the hell kind of backward society do you live in?? Surely they haven't taken away your right to defend yourself with military-grade explosives though right? I mean that's just one of those universal rights...

Also: if Spongebob were to read some fairy tales while tripping on acid, then it might be similar, except that I honestly doubt you'd ever see a talking brain floating in a fish tank in Spongebob, even if he were on acid.

I'm still undecided as to whether I loved it or just think I loved it because I missed half of the point, but I kind of get the feeling that you're supposed to walk away feeling like you've missed half the point. Maybe I'll watch it again when I'm not in a half-delirious state of walking death.

I was really disappointed when I looked up this film and found out Micmacs is actually short for Micmacs à tire-larigot which means non-stop shady/suspect going ons and actually probably has nothing to do with the Native American tribe of a similar name.
