Mortal Kombat Rebirth

Thoughts? I used to love Mortal Kombat as a kid, and I feel like I'm going to love this film purely by force of my nostalgia.
Also, I saw "Splice" and "Get Him to the Greek" this week. "Splice" was an interesting idea, but ultimately probably a "bad" movie by anyone's metric. I thought that "Get Him to the Greek" was really worth seeing, though. Now, a lot of the humor was kind of "The Hangover"-y, so if you didn't like that movie this one might not be your cup of tea either. But, the soundtrack for "Get Him to the Greek" is just priceless. About 20 full-length the songs were written and recorded specifically for the movie, and are performed by the actors in-character as the rock stars they play. The songs are hilarious in my opinion, but also very catchy and fun to listen to even ignoring the humor.
Also, I like making topics about several things at once.

Re: Mortal Kombat Rebirth
I am sad that they seem to have stripped away all of the mystical fantasy stuff from the plot, but holy hell I love Scorpion's character design. I'm probably going to wait until it hits Netflix if I watch it at all, because I'm not a fan of gore-porn on the best of days and this thing looks like it's trying to be the Saw series mixed with MMA fighting.

I won't see it, I agree with Ed. Why strip away all the cool outworld stuff?

Re: Mortal Kombat Rebirth
My understanding is that this is not a trailer. They do have intentions on a film (IMDb says 2013) but this was more to "test the waters".Edminster wrote:I am sad that they seem to have stripped away all of the mystical fantasy stuff from the plot, but holy hell I love Scorpion's character design. I can't think of any good video game movies at a moment's notice so I'll probably just give this a pass as a rule. Mortal Kombat kicks ass for a lot of reasons that I don't think translate well into movies. For instance, the movie cannot be a kick-ass fighting game.

Apparently Prince of Persia is a good movie, but I've yet to see it.

I've heard it is really, really camp.Frostbite wrote:Apparently Prince of Persia is a good movie, but I've yet to see it.
The trailer makes it seem pretty plotless, too.

He finds an object that gives him cool powers, but evil can use to destroy everything. Pretty simple.

Re: Mortal Kombat Rebirth
You have to admit, it is a bit odd that a Persian prince would be white.
