In the case of two people catching rabies, you'd be right. However, since we're discussing a case of a rabid person catching rabies again, that'd have to involved the pre-existing rabies catching rabies. Thus, (rabies)^2.

That doesn't make sense on any level. One person catching two cases of rabies has double rabies. It's SCIENCE!

You can't catch something you've already got! In some bizarre universe I have created in my head, however, the disease can catch the disease, and thus be a diseased disease.

Interestingly, this is what Rant by Chuck Palahniuk is kind of about.
This guy, as a kid, is always getting bit by animals, particularly with rabies, so that it becomes very virulent, and he basically starts a rabies epidemic single-handedly.
