Heh, thanks!

Yes, it's all true. I've been writing and painting (which I hope you'll all enjoy) and I've sworn off jpegs (although there's still the matter of retrospectively cleaning up all the old ones on my site.)
While I readily admit that it's not as good as SMBC (sorry davoid, but it's true), the comic does give me a chuckle or two when I browse through it, and I want to help out an aspiring artist get more eyes on his comic.
Don't worry about hurting my feelings by saying that it's not as good as SMBC. Saying that SMBC is as good as my comic is like saying that vintage wine is as good as bog water that somebody spit in.

But it does warm my heart whenever someone tells me that they got a laugh out of one of my comics, so this post has pretty much made my day.

So, now that Edminister has breathed life back into this thread, I'd love to hear what you all think of my newer comics/paintings/fiction!

Quite a few of your comics made me laugh :) I'll pass the link on to my friends.

As for the paintings, I know nothing about art, but they are aesthetically pleasing. "Girl Dancing" was my favorite.

Edit: I just read the short stories. The two horror stories were wonderful. I especially liked "A Night on the Town." I think it scared me most because it's not entirely unrealistic...

Wow, thanks!

I'm especially glad you liked the fiction pieces. I tend to be most self-conscious about those.

I have a pretty short attention span (which I guess is one of the reason's I read SMBC) so I really appreciate short stories that are truly, well, short. I think it takes a good deal of talent to get a reader to connect with a character, develop a plot, and reveal a creative ending all in about a page of text.

Heh, well I'll be writing pretty incessantly from here on out, so you can expect a new story once a week or so.

The format of the ten or so I read seems a bit of a rip-off from SMBC. I'm not sure if someone said this already, because I didn't bother reading through the whole thread.

Nobody's said it on this forum, but it's been said elsewhere. :D

There's no denying that the single panel with a punchline format was inspired from smbc, but I think the similarities end there.

My jokes are unique, and so I think to call my comics a "rip-off" of Zach's is a little unfair. Comparing my site to smbc is like saying a site ripped off xkcd because they use stick figure characters. My site's style was inspired by Zach, but I certainly don't think I ripped him off in any way. Just as Penny Arcade has inspired thousands of "two guys who like video games" webcomics, Zach has inspired me to create my own site and my own unique comics.

In fact, I sent Zach the link to my site a month or two ago and he was incredibly nice. He even gave me some advice on making the comics look more professional. He didn't seem to think to hold any grudge for me "ripping him off."

But yes, Zach is my #1 inspiration not only in my webcomic but in my day-to-day life and if I were a woman I would make it my life's goal to seduce and marry him. But, I guess as a man the best I can hope for is to capture him and lock him in my basement.

And really, if you've got the resources to kidnap him and trap the man in your basement, you've got the ability to 'elope' in one of those states. But you have to move fast, since he's already engaged!

Ahmet's got a valid point there, Dav. All of your posts have been in this thread, and the last time that happened the perpetrator was banished to New Outlandia as a Spam-Bot. We all know that you're not one, but I gotta say that you still need to post more throughout this Forum.

Also keep up the work on your paintings.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions on abduction/eloping! Just be sure to hide this thread from Zach.

And thank you, Ahmet. I'll see what I can do in terms of... ... interacting with people.

EDIT: Keep an eye out for me over the next couple days in the other forums. I'll be shaking hands and kissing babies like nobody's business.

Eww, babies? That's gross. Like I always say, you can't pluck fruit from the trees until they're old enough to bleed. Something like that.
