I'm pretty certain this is why a lot of the people who hate reading don't read. It's hard for me to imagine reading like that, but then again I tend towards somewhere between eight and thirteen syllables per second.Khazd wrote:Perhaps this is why you dislike reading so much?LordRetard wrote: Everything I read or think I hear in the same slow, dull monotone. About the same here. I have been known to read a fair sized novel in one night. This is also why I type so poorly. By the time hands are 2 letters into a sentence, my brain is already several sentences away. Unfortunately, due to breaking every finger on my hands several times over, I will never be able to type very fast.

Did I say that I dislike reading? I'm sorry if I gave that impression because it's definitely not true. My handicap is that I'm a slow reader (by contrast, I am a very fast typer). I have no idea why this is, and the only slower reader in my family is my father. I actually like reading, but it's very vexing for this reason.Khazd wrote:Perhaps this is why you dislike reading so much?LordRetard wrote: Everything I read or think I hear in the same slow, dull monotone. When I read I don't hear any voices in my head at all. No monotone either, just the words that are there. I do love reading however and this has in no way made reading any less enjoyable for me. Actually until I read this thread it hadn't occurred to me that people did hear voices in their heads when they read.

I'm a pretty fast reader, but it really depends on how boring the book is. Sometimes I just don't have the stamina to read too much of an interesting, yet boring book. When it's a book that's really piqued my interest I can read pretty damn fast.

Quebec is probably 18, but it doesn't matter because it's the Land of the Lawless. I visited for three days and I saw a truck run a red light. Also cigarette vending machines.

As was said, Quebec is. I know plenty of people who have gone over there for part of the Christmas break after they turn 18, to ski and booze it up.smiley_cow wrote:When I read I don't hear any voices in my head at all. And, I would say I'm in agreement with your first paragraph. Being pressed, I'd say that there probably is a subconcious change in voice and intonation, but ultimately, I have the same way of reading as you.

YO! Can we get this topic re-railed? After seeing the forum battle and some of your continued submissions, I'm curious to hear from you all. I might take an art class during the spring, and I want to be exposed to these different styles and abilities and whatnot.

Re: What do you use?
Some ho's up in this place, not gonna talk about nuttin here eh?
Well, I usually open up to a blank layer, add a bunch of transparents, then draw a bunch of things on seperate layers. Then I'll figure how I want it to flow, start editing some of them to fit, then go to my first layer and draw up the borders. I'll then just move everything into place, touch it up, and compress them all into one layer.
I draw on a tablet, and I fiddle with the vooming and stuff. I've started to get the hand of the movements, but it still isn't perfect. Also, pixelation is deadly.
Need to see how I'll improve on my drawing skills soon. Sometimes I draw each image seperate in a predefined border and role with it.

I open a blank thingy in Illustrator, then create the multitude of shapes that make up my stuff.

I draw on paper, take a picture, and then Oldrac does magic things to it. I still don't trust myself with GIMP, as evidenced by the Loser's Bracket that took forEVER to clean up.
