Genre Microfiction

For original creative work. For the love of Zach, read Rule 30.

Genre Microfiction

Post by Euclidthegreek »

This has already been done before, but hey. How 'bout we all write us some genre microfiction– that is, a story in a given genre that is only two not very long sentences. Better rules for it can be found here. I suggest you don't read it, though. The list will ruin the fun.

I'll start:
A final tear of laughter dripped down her dying cheek. Flancer! On her wedding day!

I think I've seen this on a big list.
Anyhow,

A single drop of oil rolled down her metallic cheek. Robo-cancer! On the day of the robot uprising.

Having looked through that link, Euclid, it's very difficult to not seem to be imitating something on it.

So, instead I'll imitate someone who's already posted.

John: Hey, Bob. Um... I've been meaning to tell you something.

Bob: What?

John: You know the reason I've been crying?

Bob: I was beginning to wonder when you'd tell me why that was.

John: Well... it's because I've, um, got cancer.

Bob: Really? Oh. I was hoping we could have a gay marriage.

I already make fun of myself for doing that! Now I'm just going to cry for a while.

Fix'd!

And it was meant as flattery. Now I'm just going to have cancer for a while.

2 sessions in the MIT OpenCourseWare contain Microfiction workshop samples. These discuss the Japanese phenomenon of micro stories of “keitai shosetsu” as a subtype of cell phone novels. In a microfiction story, characters are often anonymous (unspecified age too) - thetermpapers source.
