AHMETxRock wrote: No, men have negatives in society. You come across as ignorant for seeing one facet of life's discrimination as more important than another's. However, ignorance is not a crime, otherwise, all infants would be slaughtered for it. What right do you, or anyone, have to judge one side's discrimination as worse than anothers?

Or did the concept of it all being relative completely fly over your head? That was a pretty important statement. I'd like you to address this. Is it NOT relative, so that you actually can make the statement that one side DOES have it objectively worse?

My statements are not without base. There was a very long explaination about racism typed up. I feel it was the same logic, which is why I did not repeat. I can gladly delete phrases alluding to the concept of racism and replace it with phrases alluding to the concept of sexism, of course.

Perhaps you see the issues as different? That one form of discrimination is different than another? Actually, that's exactly what you seem to be implying, stating that the discrimination against women is worse against men. Do you see the struggles of racism different from the struggles of sexism? I am of the opinion that all forms of discrimination have the same roots in our collective psycology as a species that is being exploited.
Wait, I don't think we're on the same page here. I'm saying that women suffer from sexism more often than men do, not that it's worse when women suffer from sexism then when men do. Sexism is bad no matter who it's against or no matter who the victim is.
And do not talk down to me either. The side that is wrong rarely ever concedes as such, but the fact that people can act so hypocritical in the face of how wrong they were pisses me off. I am not a racist or a sexist and I honestly hate anyone will is thinking of me as such. I am here willing to engage in dialogue. When fire ants are tearing away at your body, you must not worry about individuals.
I don't think I was talking down to you, at least not consciously. Also, I never implied you were racist/sexist/whateverist, I don't really think you are. In fact, I believe you were the one calling me sexist earlier.

Damn, you Canadians talk funny, I wasn't accusing you of sexism at all! I was saying your statement was sexist. Although you've rephrased it into a more acceptable statement, I don't have much to argue against on that point. Generally women have been given the short end of the stick through sexism. I just had a problem with saying women are discriminated against more.

Anything else?

Now I'm wanting some examples of what Ahmet calls "discrimination against men". Because I can't tell if he's actually been screwed over, or if we are muddling together "stereotype" and "discrimination".

I mean, I've seen discrimination against men in action, but it has always been on a very small, relatively insignificant scale.

Other than the big factors in discrimation against men, such as having less say in Parliament because now all them women can vote, having jobs typically reserved for men being given to women, and so on. It's a travesty, really. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY RIGHTS?

Women are discriminated against more than men=Women are the victims of sexism more often than men. Though I'm glad you feel it's more acceptably phrased this way.
Anything else?
I still have no idea why you think feminism is the devil.

Yeah I'm curious too. I can think of a couple of examples I've heard of where a man was a major victim of sexism, but they're pretty few and far between. Mostly like you said, it's pretty small scale and it's pretty much always on an individual scale where the man is being discriminated against for not being masculine enough.

My example is a woman manager who seems to trend towards promoting women far more*. Which is better than the protective power-hungry manager who doesn't want any other women near her territory, which is also a regular occurence.

*We have men managers who hire tend to hire women too, but that sexism is a little different. And with this particular manager, it is a combination of "young-ish flirty single female" and "my ego needs to be even bigger!" Still sexism, but that one makes me sad, rather than the other which makes me a little angry.

Oh yeah, I've seen that kind of thing too, it just slipped my mind. Mostly it's been the occasional female professor who favours the girls (though this one isn't nearly as common as some of my male student friends would like to believe, sometimes there essay really did suck), a female gender studies professor who refused to mention male spousal abuse because she didn't deem it as important, which I'll admit, actually did kind of annoy me, etc. But you know, the idea that women can be just as bad when it comes to this sort of thing as men is hardly surprising.

Nah, women are worse, cause they keep nagging you.

Now I need a black person to argue with about racism.

You could argue with DR* about homosexuality.

It's also a sin to hang around women if they're bleeding out their snatch. So be sure to ask women if they're on their period before initialising socialisation!

Satan should probably see a doctor about that.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.
