I mean, mostly but with a lot more bleak terrible implications than normally get owned to about the system.

Perhaps I'm dense but I don't get this one at all.

Is this some sort of visual punning on the second law of thermodynamics and the "heat death" of the universe?

It's another one of Zach's dumb (read: great) stories where stuff just kind of happen.

In this case there's an entity, which seems to be all-powerful, whose goal is to maximize happiness in the universe. I don't think Zach took thermodynamics into consideration here.
