those board games are just marginally different than previous board games, but haven't truly changed the form of their rules.

Heh, I wonder now whether new games are really always just rehashes of older games with don't minor rule tweaks, or if there actually exist truly original new game rules that can't be attributed to anything that came before.

I can't think of an example of the top of my head, but I know that I've seen the exact same joke repeated in smbc a few years apart. This one is close, but really the main joke here IMO is in the 1st and 2nd panels - the misinterpretation of "without God there are no rules". The older comic isn't really the same joke or the same punchline.

Unless you were just citing your sources for your answer to me, in which case ignore my 3:00 AM ramblings.
