Just finished this book by David McCullough, and thought it was phenomenal. Detailed and informative without overwhelming you with needless details.

Anyone have any historical novels to recommend?

Do you count Future History as historical? No? In that case no.

I bought my grandpa the Andrew Jackson biography "American Lion". It seemed good.

Ooh! I read 1776. Fantastic. He writes in a readable, down to earth style, yet still intelligibly. I swear, it read like a novel, except with really intriguing facts and interpretations of otherwise impersonal historical events. I understand John Adams is his most famous book, but I have yet to read it.

If you're looking to get into Canadian History Bastards and Boneheads by Will Ferguson is a good overview, and quite entertaining. Also anything written by Pierre Burton. If you're not interested in Canadian History feel free to ignore this post.

I'm more interested in John Stamos.

THANK YOU!

I had forgotten about this book, but wanted to read it when it was released. And my mom just sent me a message saying that she has a 20% off coupon for Chapters, so that will go on my short-list.

Bastards and Boneheads by Will Ferguson
Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk
Girlfriend in a Coma by Douglas Coupland

'Tis correct. And thus my mom has likely purchased reading material for me. Huzzah!

I have so many books now, and yet I don't read much and then I'm incredibly slow at it; thus, to save money, I've temporarily stopped buying books. I'm not buying any more until July, when another one of my iRewards coupons starts working and I get a $5 discount.

Is chapters sponsored by apple or something? Or are they just uncreative?

"In recent years, Indigo has partnered with Apple and iUniverse publishing."

Huh, I didn't bother looking it up 'till today. I guess you're right.

Anyway, it's also uncreative. Everyone carries the iWhatever these days, and it's kind of silly.

Wow, that's pretty damn funny. I was just kidding, but it turned out to be true.
