Probably because they're scared of Rule 1.

It's a medical term, though. If I caught it in a door or something that's how I'd refer to it with the doctor.

My thoughts exactly. But, it can't be helped that these people are juveniles who giggle whenever they hear the word 'penis'.

I always thought the plural for penis was penes. Such as 'Mary sure has seen a lot of penes in her work as a urologist.'

Penises is correct, as well as penes.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense actually.

The scientific name is derived from latin. And by derived, I mean it's completely from latin. Yeah.
Therefore, I'm thinking, unless the word was one of those few rare masculine words with it's own form, it would be peni. I'm rusty on my latin though.

I had an interesting mini conversation with my mathmatics tutor on linguistics. I might tell you guys about it later.

It's a third declension noun. Plural in Latin would be Penes.

The weird thing is, I think it's a feminine noun. But I would have to double-check that.
