Attempting? This book is splendid, wonderful and awesome all at the same time. In fact, i can't hear you over the sound of how great it was.Edminster wrote:Also I was recently attempting to read Catch-22 which has a character named Major Major who holds a rank of Major (creating Major Major Major for those of you playing at home). So, that helped connect everything together.

I can't believe that ANYONE else has ever seen that show before. It was way funny, they always cut the best shows.mountainmage wrote:Well, as the creator of General General, I can say I wasn't being as creative as you thought I was. Y'see there was this show on cartoon network a while ago, called Sheep in the Big City. Now, I don't remember much about it, but there was a character named General Specific and he had an underling, Private Public. I thought the names were clever, and they just stuck with me. And that's how I came up with General General.
Catch-22 was also pretty funny. Wasn't he "Major Major Major Major"?

Don't get me wrong, it's well-written. However it reads like this Forum used to, and I find this place infinitely more interesting. I ended up halfway through before I had to return it to the library, and right now I'm on the third book in the Greatwinter Trilogy by Sean McMullen. If you think it's really good enough to pick back up, I shall do so as soon as I return Eyes of the Calculor in a few days.cheez.wiz wrote:Attempting? You are correct. Part of me thinks that Oldrac is going to do the same thing for General General, but I can't be certain.LordRetard wrote:Wasn't he "Major Major Major Major"?

Haha. I've just reread the entire book Catch 22 a week ago. I love the series by the way.
If anyone has any reads like this and works by Orwell, let me know.

Re: The Linguists' Club!
The author made a sequel, although it kinda kills the uncertain closure provided by Catch-22. And he's got a few more novels floating around. I'm standing on fairly stable ground on that comment.
Not gonna spoil anything though. The sequel I didn't finish, as it wasn't as inspired. The things it uses as background information certainly adds to it, but hurts the source information. It's like how the dark necromancer mentioned in the hobbit turned out to be the huge fricken eye thing in LofR.

Huh. I learned something new today, which I'm not entirely certain I like. Ah, well. Not like I'm being forced to read it by gunpoint. And I don't anticipate ever having to as long as Cheez never finds out where I live!

I would say that nearly 3/4 of puns are, indeed, retarded. Mostly because they are unoriginal and overdone. However an original or seldom-heard pun amuses me greatly.mountainmage wrote:Hey! Puns aren't retarded. Stop trying to derail my joke!
