I like watching people be murdered.
Isn't that what it means when you say that horror is your favorite genre?
Anyhow, recommendations are always welcome. I was, for a while, into Asian horror films, because they are typically creepier than US ones. Also, currently, I am watching Harper's Island, because I am excited that someone thought of the brilliant idea of creating a mini-series based on many people dying.

Jacob's Ladder was a good'n- tis what inspired much of the stuff in the Silent Hill games.

I don't know, my favourite movie evarz is The Shining and it's not very scary at all and hardly anyone dies (though for the entire movie it's mostly the same three people).
In terms of actually scary movies though, The Ring was very good, though I haven't seen its asian counterpart, I don't remember seeing any asian horror movies.
Did anyone see any of the Saw movies? Such bullshit. I saw the third one and I laughed through the whole thing, it was so ridiculous and bad.

Probably goes without saying, but Battle Royale is good. Although it's more of a thriller than horror.

The Ring mostly just sketched me out because of the weird body contortions.
I stayed away from the Saw movies. I need some plot, rather than just gore.

Funny games. The english remake (by Haneke, the original director of the [german? swedish?] version) is really A-ok. It's close to The strangers in term of atmosphere, with an extra critic. I loved Severance, too, if only for the beartrap scene. (be warned, that's horror/comedy, a bit like Shaun of the dead was)

I also really enjoyed "The Blair Witch Project". Mainly its just creepy until you get to the end where it gets really scary.

Re: I like watching people be murdered.
I mostly don't care for the horror genre. Too formulaic, for the most part. It just doesn't hold any real interest for me. Plus, I've pretty much never been even remotely scared by a horror movie.
The only three I would have mentioned already have.
The Shining. I'm not a fan of Kubrick, but this is probably his best. Reasonably creepy.
The Ring. I also haven't seen the original, but the movie itself sufficiently creeped me out.
The Blair Witch Project. I can understand both the initial hype and the subsequent backlash. If you don't sufficiently immerse yourself in the movie, it is pretty silly, really. I think the saddest thing was when they eventually gave up on the "this is a real video!" marketing.

I completely agree with Lethal, up until the end of the third line. I've never seen The Ring or The Blair Witch Project before.

Strangers was good. Now I have an assortment of knives and a halberd in my room.

I watched the Strangers in the theatre. I was freaked out. I made my little sister hold my hand.Cirtur wrote:Strangers was good. Now I have an assortment of knives and a halberd in my room.

In another "genre" of horror, i must say that zombie strippers and trailer park of terror were pretty okay. You have to like horror movies that are borderline parodies of the horror type, and somewhat low budget, though.

I had a certain appreciation for Grindhouse, if that counts.

Re: I like watching people be murdered.
It could well count. They similarly have B-movies influences (even D or E in trailor park's case) and the other one is totally a sexploitation movie with quotes from Nietzsche quotes and a Rhinoceros(Ionesco's play) like scenario. Please don't misquote me though, they are both mediocre movies, but they do well in the genre they're trying to exploit.
