I have a webcomic...

For original creative work. For the love of Zach, read Rule 30.

He sure is!
You should read it, it's great. I had just finished reading the Bible when I read it and it really helped in keeping track of what's happening there.

Yeah I still haven't managed to get through the Bible yet, unfortunately. I'll put R Crumb's one on my list of things to buy, but I'm a bit poor at the moment so it might be awhile.

It did take a while. Some parts were really boring, but most of it was actually pretty entertaining. I'm planning to get through the Quran next, but we'll see. Yes, you always have to prioritize, crack is so expensive these days...

You came back (even repeatedly), so that already makes you better than most of the self-promoting trolls.

Well, yes, I didn't intend to just do self promotion, I wanted to introduce myself and get started in the community. Anyway, I can understand why you were pissed of initially if this kind of thing keeps happening often. I support smiley_cow's rule, with that, you could have just kicked me out for not following the rules. I wouldn't even have started this thread if that had been in the rules since I read them before posting.

Looking past the faux pas of making this thread your first post, I have to say your stuff is really interesting.

But yeah, we definitely need a rule that says no promoting your stuff before a threshold of like, a hundred posts or something. Maybe 50? I'm no good at deriving thresholds.

Thanks!
Yeah, I'll have to keep working to make up for that I guess... I don't think that will be a problem though, from what I can see, this forum has a lot of interesting and entertaining discussions.

By the way, regarding that rule. I still stand behind it, but I just started to think, doesn't it bring the risk of people registering and posting a lot of worthless short comments all over the place just to be able to promote their stuff? It would suck if all of a sudden, the admins would have to delete 50 or 100 posts full of crap every time someone decides to spam the forums just to be able to promote their website. Maybe I'm exaggerating the risk of this happening, but the possibility deserves some consideration I think.

It does run that risk, yes. Honestly though I'm not sure what else we can do besides keeping on our current tack, which leads to situations like yours. Anyway, I'm going to close this thread up and disable the links for a week to encourage you to get out and about on the Forum; if anyone wants to discuss rule changes I suggest bringing it up in the Rules thread way at the tippy-top.

As for how Davoid was able to skirt the hatred and you weren't: he posted that way before the hatred developed.

Holy Moly a week has come and gone faster than the blink of an eye and somehow Leho hasn't abandoned the Forum!

I think this calls for unlocking this topic like I promised.

He he, thank you! I really like the forum so far. Tthough I haven't participated in very many different topics yet, I really enjoy the conversations and random ramblings in the ones I am active in.

Yeah I was wondering what the difference would be between these self promoters posting worthless short comments all over the place and the rest of us posters (or at least the prolific ones).

It would be hard to tell the difference between the normal members of the forum and people just coming in to sell themselves.

Besides, I'd miss the bashing if we didn't get them occasionally.

Yeah, I guess it's hard to tell the difference when idiots turn up and talk about their stuff in their first post (hrm)...
