Every avatar I see is reduced to its most prevalent colour. Feedbacker's and MM's are black, Ahmet's and Ed's and Cirtur's is red, Smiley's is green, et cetera. Since I've come here I've learned to pay a lot of attention to the name because distinguishing between avatars is way too hard to do quickly.

No, not really. Explain in details!
Honesty I'm blind enough if its not viewed via my glasses it might as well not be there.

Seriously, this is an extremely normal ability. I mean I can basically faze out and stop paying attention to everything but as far as peripheral vision goes it's really easy to ignore, intentionally or not.mountainmage wrote:Wow, so you can tune out your peripheral vision?

I get so involved in my own thoughts I often end up tuning out all my vision entirely. It's happened where someone I know is standing right in the middle of my field of vision with me staring in their direction, but they have to wave or say my name before I realise.
So yeah, some people think I'm rude.

Re: Holy crap!
I use to have a good peripheral vision until I started wearing glassesm after which I only really started to focus on the more focused(?) part of my vision. Before having glasses I couldn't see anything in too much deatil, but I was really good at watching people without them noticing that I was looking in their direction, and I miss that ability now.

I'm really twitchy and constantly looking around, which makes a lot of people nervous on the subway. On the plus side, it looks like I'm looking at everyone, which makes it easier to pretend I'm scanning over when I'm actually watching only a couple of people.

Re: Holy crap!
I have great peripheral. Great vision in general. When I got my license, though, they gave me slightly imperfect vision. I don't remember if it was 25/20 or 20/25. Anyways, I was pretty sure it was because I simply stumbled on a part of the test.
Either way, I have great eyesight, and my peripheral is fantastic.
I do zone out my vision sometimes. Not to the point where some has to get my attention audibly, but I frequently stare off into space and often people will ask what I'm looking for/at, and occasionally think I'm looking at them when really I'm looking through them or past them, or whatever you want to call it. I've even been accused of ogling before with it, but I intentionally don't zone out in the direction of someone's t or a, so if it happens it is because they've wandered into my line of sight and I haven't noticed enough to refocus or change the direction of my gaze.
I mean, come on, I am very discreet about my ogling.
